my VIM problem is, still locked at DVD code 3.
tried many sources to make it code 1 but failed.
I contacted Vick (Bimmer Coder) this morning and met up with him to unlock the Video in Motion. Works like a charm now
ya, to unlock is easy. problem is region lock for code 3 dvd only.
main collection of mine are from USA which is code 1...
Oh didn't know that. Anyways I just wanted to unlock so I can let my kids view Disney cartoons or kids music that's about it.

Re: DVD in Motion
actually many of them holds the vagcom, only if they willing to do it for u free
you may approach vendor if you wish to get it done soon. like i said, within the range of rm200-500.
u may also view videos from SD card after that.
note that the player only reads code 3 dvd.
i not sure if SC will detect change of setting. i serviced 2 times with Audi and they didnt say anything still though. play at your own risks, i guess

Re: DVD in Motion
Is not easy to find someone with Vagcom. Do you have any particular in mind? Also, will audi service centre find out about this and void the warranty?

Re: DVD in Motion
There are too many settings in the car. Audi SC will not be able to detect unless they specifically look for your VIM settings.

For DIY guys. It's not difficult to set the VIM. I did it myself as the instructions are available in internet (AudiEnthusiasts.com). You need to purchase VAG Com cable and download the software. However, be very careful and only change the required settings. Also good to take a picture of the original setting as reference. Good luck.
Where did you purchase the cable and how much?

Bro, you guys can go ahead first. My project is taking more time to complete so I can only do this when I'm free from disturbances.
Btw, you can always call our friend directly and he can do it for your forts at your convenience

Gigabelova wrote:Do we have a specific date and time set yet?
I guess someone should take the initiative to organize this. By posting a suggested venue and time, we should have things moving...
But I can't make it on any of the weekends this month so I'll contact him separately to get this done.
Re: DVD in Motion
Hi,
General software updates will not affect the dvd in motion. Also, as far as I am aware of, EM has yet to provide/perform mmi updates. Generally, their updates excludes MMI updates.

What about software updates by Audi? Will this override the DVD in motion tweak?
Also guys, I can't be joining you guys this April weekends as I have various engagements tied up. Do go ahead and I'll contact the vendor separately to do it, at a higher cost
So, those interested, do organize among yourselves and give him a call
Cheers

Re: DVD in Motion
Hi All
Thank you for expressing your interest in performing dvd in motion.
The enablement is very safe and it will not have any effect on any other modules. There will be no error code as well.
By the way Audi service centres will not be able to detect it unless:
1) There is a dvd in the slot and they drive around and realise that video continues to play despite the car moving
2) You inform them that you have done it.
Please let me know if you have any other questions and I will be glad to be of any assistance.
Cheers.
Vick

Gigabelova wrote:Just for the record, how does he allow DVD in motion?
For example, would Audi techs be able to tell and void electronic hardware? Is it noticeable during engine diagnostics? Is this modification accepted by Audi?
I've asked the vendor to personally reply these questions in the thread. Seems like he's busy
From what I know, he's been doing it on BMWs for years with no issues and diagnostics doesn't pick this mod up.
What I'm more concerned is that Audi usually performs system upgrades when we send the car in for servicing, I'm not sure if this feature may be overridden. I'll let the vendor reply to this
