I wouldn't mind the wheel spin if I wanted to show off like my younger days!
But nowadays I like to just bumble along enjoying the ride, its just that even turning out from a side road unless the throttle is used VERY carefully and gently even a "normal" pull away into traffic will produce some screech.........I really do believe it is just down to the Hybrid drive/Electric motor not being governed by the ESP like a normal ICE vehicle.

Re: Excessive wheel spin on acceleration
Yes like you I find it happens most when pulling away briskly at junctions ie with wheels turned, very difficult to pull out into a busy traffic area without wheel spin/screeching, if pulling away gently its not a problem but unfortunately thats not the way you can drive in most busy conditions.
Seems like it might just be a "characteristic" rather than a fault
Its a shame as the rest of the driving experience is so serene.

Re: Excessive wheel spin on acceleration
Hi
I had similar experience a few times during my 4 months of ownership. At first, I was shocked and a bit embarrassed.
It could primarily due to the enormous torque as the ESP light never flash... (unlike my other car, at sweeping corners, ESP kicks in quite early, even at below 100km/h).
I noticed, when I started accelerating and at the same time make a turn, the wheels started to screech - perhaps different rule is used to control under/over steer... strange, the ESP light never comes on.

Excessive wheel spin on acceleration
Hi all, it appears I am one of only a literally handful of owners of the Hybrid here in the UK so better to ask here than the UK forum for Audi (there is no-one there with a Hybrid!)
Anyhooo....do you chaps notice upon a rapid getaway from a junction for example the car lets you spin the front wheels a lot, comes with an embaressing amount of screeching, just like my boy racer days (much too long ago now).
Its almost as if the ESP system is not working, even though it is not turned off according to the dash button and cluster.
I am wondering if the ESP does not control the Hybrid drive part of the system?
