""""Excessive use of EV will discharge the batteries very quickly and you'll end up having the engine to recharge the batteries for you, which requires fuel, thus defeating your FC."""" Well said bro.... city traffic full tank fuel consumption i get 8 per liter....

more on throttle, gearbox and heaviness of steering.
for Indivisula, u can have light steering but faster throttle e.g.

Re: Hybrid Driving Tips
Bro crazy,
Try to express the fuel consumption in l/km as per the on board computer reading. This is because everyone will pump petrol at various levels of fill in the tank. Using l/km will be more consistent.
Btw, there is a fuel consumption thread in this forum

Re: Hybrid Driving Tips
Just wanna check on the fuel consumption that u have experience since obtaining the car...i've been averaging around 600 to 620km per full tank. that is with very cautious driving habits...

Re: Hybrid Driving Tips
I have a Honda Insight Hybrid. Whenever I drive this car, I automatically become a 'green man'. I'm gently on throttle and brake with early on lift off. When I back to my BMW, I back to myself, accelerate off the traffic light as fast as possible, half throttle going into bends. I guess I'll be a green man always with these 2 hybrid cars.

Hybrid Driving Tips
The key to achieving better than average FC is to make as much use of the hybrid battery pack to drive the car.
This means that having the battery pack at optimum charge to be used later. The car can be charged via coasting (minimal charging taking place unless at higher speeds over longer distance eg going downhill), regenerative braking (higher degree of charging taking place) or via engine (when battery levels are too low for the tasks, also will consume more fuel since the engine is running to charge the battery pack, besides driving other components).
For coasting, one has to practice a lot of anticipatory driving ie don't charge at the traffic lights which has turned green but coast to a stop, etc.
Once the battery pack is sufficiently charged, you can utilize a technique called 'pulse and glide' to let the battery drive the car forward. Here's how to do it. Say, you have a stretch of road which you anticipate to be able to drive about 80kmh for a foreseeable distance. To execute the pulse and glide technique, accelerate all the way to say 100 or 120kmh, then let go off the accelerator pedal. When the hybrid graphic shows that the engine is off, and you are now coasting on battery power, gently pulse the accelerator again, and you will see that the battery pack is now invoked to move the car (because the arrow shows the opposite way) and you are now gliding at around 80+kmh for a considerable distance without sipping any fuel at all.
How gentle should you pulse? Imagine you need to step on the accelerator pedal with an egg on it but cant break it). You can also use the power meter as guidance. I find that to pulse effectively, the power meter should not exceed 20%
Also, do not use EV mode in regular driving. The best time to use EV mode is when you are slowing yourself home to your garage or when you enter a shopping centre looking for a car park. Excessive use of EV will discharge the batteries very quickly and you'll end up having the engine to recharge the batteries for you, which requires fuel, thus defeating your FC.
Yeah, hybrid driving is less fun and for me, coming from a 320d diesel, I'm used to hard driving but surprisingly, with this hybrid, I find it challenging with the graphics and what nots to liken it to a game.
Maybe after the run in period, I can then switch the adaptive drive mode from auto to sports and see what this wolf in sheep skin is capable of.
